Composite Fillings Look Natural

During your appointment, the dentist will blend a composite resin mixture that matches the color of your enamel. That way, your new filling blends in with the rest of your tooth. In fact, no one will even realize that you have a composite filling once we’re done restoring your tooth. The only thing they’ll notice is your beautiful healthy smile.
Composite fillings also match the translucency of your teeth so they never look out of place. can’t do that.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
When you come to our office with a toothache, our first job is to detect the source of your pain. Our dentist will examine your teeth and gums. We’ll also take X-rays so we can determine if there’s any decay between teeth, which would be invisible to the naked eye.
If you have a small cavity, our dentist may recommend using a filling to restore the tooth. This procedure takes one appointment, so you won’t need to return to our office for follow-up care.
First, Dr. Jones will inject a local anesthetic into the soft tissue by your tooth. You’ll feel a small pinch but the anesthetic will work fast to numb the tooth and surrounding gums. That way, you won’t feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
Once you’re comfortably numb, the dentist will use a drill to carefully remove the decayed tooth structure. Dr. Jones will leave the rest of the tooth intact to receive the filling.
Next, Dr. Jones will use the composite resin to fill and restore the tooth. This involves shaping and molding the resin before hardening it in place with a special bonding light.
Your composite filling may last as long as you practice good oral hygiene at home and continue seeing our dentist for preventive care.
