Sleep Apnea Treatment
Dr. Jones may order a sleep study to determine if you have obstructive sleep apnea. If you receive an official diagnosis, he may recommend wearing a custom night guard to help bring the jaw forward while you sleep. This helps prevent the soft tissues from collapsing at the back of your throat so your airways stay clear.
Causes of Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea may be caused by genetics, poor posture, allergies, enlarged tonsils, and other issues. Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common form of sleep apnea. This is caused by airways in the throat collapsing during sleep.
